In 1998, census records showed that there are approximately ten million single mothers in the US, a rapid growth since the 1970s - from around three million back then. Single mothers comprise about five-sixth of all single parents in US. Due to the vast growth in numbers in the past quarter century, financial aid for single mothers have slowly been taken into better consideration by the government. Monetary assistance such as college and government grants for single moms and, as well as food assistance, have been given priority in the government subsidy.

Household responsibilities left to single mothers are not easy tasks; having to look after kids and at the same time earn for a living are huge obligations that mothers will never take for granted. Single mothers, regardless of the number of things they have to provide for, are mostly restricted to what they could give their children because of lack of income. No matter how hard they work, sometimes what they earn is just never enough. This is why some of them resort to having two jobs at the same time, which also means lessening their time with their children.
Financial aid for single mothers is practically favorable in easing mothers' responsibilities. The government offers assistance to single mothers who qualify the criteria, and not everyone does. It's not enough to be a single mother; the grant also considers the income the parent is earning. Even if the income earned is not really enough to support the entire household, it still goes above the income criterion of the program, hence the grant is disapproved.
Cases like these have become a predicament to single mothers who, although need the financial assistance, can't qualify for the assistance program. There are ways around this though; there are other sources of assistance that may come available for mothers who need financial support. Non-profit organizations like churches and other non-government and private organizations have certain programs that assist families in their financial needs.
For mothers who aspire to finish a degree or get into college, there are also college and government grants for single moms that are offered to help. This kind of financial aid for single mothers specifically aims to support mothers in their desire to attain a better level of education, enabling them to have more career opportunities with higher income.
If you are a single mother who is eager to finish a degree, but have limited funds, Scholarships for Moms will help you achieve your dreams through education grants. All you have to do is register for the offer and you instantly get a chance to be in school through a scholarship program.
Hi I am a 20 year old single mom of a 1 and a 1/2 year old little boy who has a disability. I work but I do not receive enough pay to make ends meet. My question is what kind of aide is out there for me? thanks

I'm 22 years old with a 3year old boy. I'm having a really hard time trying to get on my feet. I work at Sears for loss prevention but I don't work for enough hours to pay the bills. I can't hardly pay for gas to get to work. I live with my adopted parents. Thank God, I have them. I'm on Family's First and food stamps. But with Family's First you have to have 30hours a week for them to help you. I wish I could make it out here, and I will but it's so very hard. I want the best for my son. I want to have child support from his father but he doesn't work plus my child doesn't even know him. I just paid $300 online to get my GED. My income tax didn't help at all. It is so hard to find work at the time.
Hi I am a 38 year old single mother of a 6 year old boy and I was wondering if there is any type of college housing cooperatives for single parents trying to go back to college to earn a degree?
Hello I am a single Mother of an almost 4 year old, I work at a Pharmacuetical company that will reimburse money's back after graduating, but the problem is that I don't have the money to pay upfront, is there any help for someone in my situation? They only way I could advance from my current position is to have a science degree.
There are organizations that give scholarships, grants and loans specifically to moms going back to school. It's a good thing that your company will reimburse your expenses after graduation. In case you go for school loans, you'll have the money to pay it back. Anyway, we have a $10,000 scholarship offer you can sign up for. Read our FAQ page for more information. If you're interested, follow this link http://www.scholarships4moms.net/form.htm and register. $10,000 is more than enough to jump start your college education.

Hello! My name is Heather. I am a single-mother for my beautiful daughter, Madison Elise. I graduated high school in 2004. I was accepted to several different schools after high school and I also had several scholarships. My daughter is 3 now, and I am ready to start school in Spring 2010, I am planning on going to Georgia State to become a Physical Therapy Assistant. I am lost on how to start getting grant and scholarship information, because my high school counselor handled all of that for me. I am excited about returning to school, because I know that the higher education I have then the higher education I will be able to give my daughter! Please help me find a way, I am currently unemployed and having to move to a different state to make a higher income. There has to be some type of real financial help for single mothers out there. God is Love!! Thanks!
