College Scholarships: Exchange Programs

College Scholarships have been the key for students to finish their degree. Individuals who lack funds resort to these programs to support their education and earn better employment credentials.

Exchange Programs

A number of schools and universities provide exchange programs as part of their scholarship grants to promote relationships among schools as well as develop the well-being of students. Breaking down the cultural barriers, college or graduate exchange programs provide a venue for students of different genders to overhaul their way of thinking.

How long would it take to complete the program?

The exchange program period could range from two weeks up to 4 years, depending on the curriculum one selects. Certificate courses usually take shorter periods compared to degree programs.

What schools are involved?

There are numerous colleges and universities that cater to international participants. However, more popular states in the U.S (ex. California) has numerous restrictions. If you intend to apply, you first have to identify a group that will sponsor you then the state or school which is a part of your desired program.

Who are qualified?

People with good moral character and genuine interest in social, national, and global development are commonly selected to participate. Most projects require an applicant to at least have a high school diploma. Students desiring to join a particular course should have the financial capacity to pay his or her basic living expenses such as laundry, food, daily travel and recreational costs. Also, her or she should have the means to pay for visa costs if necessary.

Where does support and funding come from?

Organizations giving college scholarships come from both the private and public sectors. Examples of which are international social organizations, multinational companies, government cooperatives, and etc. Usually, donors cover the school tuition and miscellaneous fees, and basic lodging expenses.

What is expected of you?

Participants represent their country or state as student ambassadors. It's their responsibility to act properly at all times and promote the values their schools practice.

Possibilities

Cross-involvement projects may increase student participants' interest to global events and enhance desire to become a catalyst for developmental changes.

If you are a student working on a research paper and would like to focus on a specific group or population, getting involved in an exchange program would likely put you in a better position to access your desired subjects.

I am 3 classes shy of my masters in Math. I am the sole breadwinner of my family, going through an unexpected divorce and a mother of 2 young children. A masters would mean greater income for me and more financial stability. I am finding it difficult to afford the 3 classes needed. I am in a program at University of Michigan-Dearborn. Am I eligible for any financial grants for moms who want to go back to school?
